And they'll call me "650 Steve"...

So,  I have decided to try and bike across the province of Saskatchewan this June.  It's 650 kilometres and I'd like to do it in less than a week. I know it's a lofty goal and and yet, why not try!?
A view of my training roads as I increase the KM's.

Stay tuned for updates on the training process, and information on how the actual ride is going.

For now all I'll say is that I've trained for 6 days and I am leaving for Mexico tomorrow which will interrupt my training a little, but then I'll be back and ready to prepare!

Back at home!

Ok, so I’m back at home, and it’s been really good to be home! Thanks to everyone who’s made it pretty sweet!  I sure feels busy though, wow.

I’ve always wanted to blog, and if you remember, I  said that I wanted to keep the travellers mentality and just keep meeting people and doing sweet stuff, and it I’m excited to say it’s been happening.  I hope you’ll enjoy hearing about life at home from time to time.

Highlights of the past 4 days

- Awesomely pranked by some wonderful friends.  Well done ladies, well done!

Boxes and a couch!?
Pretty in pink!
- Having a ton of fun at A&W in Steinbach and talking with the 2 girls working there.  Turns out one of them even went through LDP!  Then, when we left, just to bring a smile to their faces, we went through the drive-through and ordered another burger and showed off my sahweet orange crv!

- Driving my beauty orange CR-V all around! I love love love it!

Can't miss me now!
- Learning a new game at camp days.

You must pick up the paper with your teeth without anything but your feet touching the floor, and each time the paper tube got shorter. This was the final round!

- Attending pulse and not being able to stop smiling because of how I felt God’s spirit there and being reminded how good he is! I love Tuesday nights!

- Today, hearing someone’s vision for the youth in Morden: It’s like it’s day 7 from the story of the walls of Jericho. For the first 6 they marched around the walls quietly, but on the last day they all yelled and blew the horns and the walls came crashing down.
Explanation: For many years people have been serving God and working with the youth, but now it’s time to make some noise cuz God is gonna tear down the walls of the evil one in a big way!

I really like the analogy and am excited bout what God’s gonna do!

So yeah, I'm loving being home, lots of sweet God moments and other sweet stuff!

The Last Day! What a party!

“The Last Full Day”

Yet another relaxed day, which is pretty sweet considering once we get home it’s gonna be pretty different.  We slept in, I went for a 6k run and then we had lunch… which got pretty interesting.  I think we’re still suffering from a case of cabin fever.
Eating from a pool of BBQ sauce on the table lead to...
Stuffing his face with fries covered in BBQ sauce!

We ended up on going on a random trip to town with Cesh, Her mom and Gibby and we looked at mud, played on a stellar playground, ran into Jayden, and just walked around town.
Mud watching with the gang
These el Camino-ish car/trucks are everywhere out here!
Such a cool playground!
Cesh and Travis! Couple of beauties!
Riding the Barney Car! Peace!
Roseisle Style!
Then we went to Cesh’s for supper, and we did the BBQing (pretty stressful!), played rugby with the bros’ and then taught them 500 up.  Packing was the last activity of the day, and surprisingly it all actually fit into our bags with out too much stress.  To celebrate we ate a ton of ice cream.

Are we living the dream? I think so.  But bring it on Canadian cold, we're (not) ready!  I'm divided, I do love it here and I'll miss some things and def some of the people here, but there's so much back home that I'm looking forward to...so "carpe diem", I'll just take it as it comes!
See you soon Canada!

My farewell gift to Travis!

Our Time At Tui

“Rotorua Whirlwind“

Today was an activity filled day starting with delicious chocolate chip pancakes made by Jenny-Lynn and then Travis got a violin lesson from a 6 year old.  It was pretty funny to watch!

Gibby teaching Travis how to play violin.
Then it was off to Town to roll down a hill in a big ball full of water! Up, it was ZORB time!  Travis and I did the water one on a zig-zag track and it was super disorienting, but over all pretty fun!  Then I did the harness one, so it tumbled head over heals and it was really quite sweet.  Def something I’d like to see at WBC in the future!

Chilling on the chairlift up at the luge
Next was we were off to the gondola and luge, which was also super fun and I want to see a luge at WBC!  We raced down 3 times and were on 2 wheels way too often, but it was super sweet!

Rotorua lake from on the gondola
We made a quick pit stop at the local park to see the boiling mud that makes Rotorua famous (along with the rotten egg sulfur smell) and then we did some thrift store shopping!  Sadly I didn’t find anything worth buying, but there were some pretty crazy shirts there.

I totally remember this Aussie show from when I was a kid

In case you didn't know...

Well are you?
Lastly was some grocery shopping and then we headed back to camp for a relaxed time of biking a bunch of the trails at camp and chilling in the dining hall.

“Cabin Fever”

Today was the first time in 2 weeks that we could actually sleep in with nothing planned that we had to get up for.  Once I finally woke up I went for a 6k run (I’m gonna miss this weather when I get home) and then went on a random shopping trip with Cesh.

Shopping with Cesh!
I really like doing the “real life” things like shopping so it was super fun, and Cesh is great, so we chatted it up as we picked up a bunch of stuff for the camp.  We made plans to go swimming later on in the day, so once we returned to camp we went back to our regular spot on our deck and waited…and waited…and waited.

Oops
And we got a little restless, which resulted in an iphone throwing contest (I won), sword fighting with kitchen knives, and pots and pans ping pong in our kitchen.  Needless to say we had fun!

After waiting and making supper we decided to go to the gym to workout and after a solid (5 minute) workout, it was finally time to to swimming!  Well, not so much swimming as jumping…on a bridge…into moderately shallow water!  Videos will be posted when i have move consistant internet...but it's pretty sweet stuff!
Don't think, just do!
Afterward we played a boisterous game of NZ edition monopoly, and checked out the glowworms on the way back home.  All in all quite a fantastic day!

Still seeing smiles because we just started, that changed later.
